Lake Quantity

Lake Simcoe forms a portion of the Trent Severn Waterway, which is comprised of over 380 kilometers of interconnected lakes, rivers and canals. The water levels within the Trent Severn Waterway are managed by the technical staff at Parks Canada to facilitate safe boating, aid in flood control, maintain water levels for aquatic habitat and generate hydroelectric power. To these ends, Parks Canada has established management curves for various water bodies on the system, including Lake Simcoe, which describe the optimum water level for different times of the year. The management curve for Lake Simcoe is presented in this section, graphed against the Lake Simcoe water levels for the 2002 water year and the 81-year average water level for the lake.
