Groundwater Quality Monitoring

Groundwater is an extremely valuable natural resource and is used as a potable water source in many of the communities in the Lake Simcoe watershed as depicted in the Water Use Map. Major municipal supply aquifers are targeted in the groundwater quality monitoring described in the following sections to both establish baseline data for future water quality investigations and to monitor changing water quality conditions over time.

In co-operation with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment under the Provincial Groundwater Monitoring Network program, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority has established a network of several monitors across the watershed that will be sampled for water quality in addition to monitoring water level.
