Parameters

The monitoring programs are intended to evaluate the relative health of streams by collecting, identifying and counting the invertebrates and fish present. Some species need clean flowing water to survive while others can tolerate stagnant polluted water. By comparing the numbers and types of insects and fish from our sample sites to those of known reference sites, we can quantify the general health of the streams in the Lake Simcoe watershed.
