About The Program

All levels of government, the first nations, and the community working together to save Lake Simcoe. Specifically our mission is to improve and protect the health of the Lake Simcoe watershed ecosystem and improve associated recreational opportunities by:

  • Restoring a self sustaining coldwater fishery,
  • Improving water quality,
  • Reducing phosphorus loads to Lake Simcoe, and
  • Protecting natural heritage features and functions.

Lake Simcoe Environmental Management Strategy (LSEMS) is a program to identify and measure the sources of phosphorus entering Lake Simcoe, and, to evaluate and recommend remedial measures designed to reduce these inputs and take action towards cleaning up Lake Simcoe.
